As part of the newly established DFG funded project “The Ethics of State Mass Surveillance” (Heads: Prof. Dr. Peter Königs (TU Dortmund), Prof. Dr. Christian Neuhäuser (TU Dortmund), Prof. Dr. Christian Seidel (KIT)), the Research Group „Computational Philosophy, Philosophical Methods, Moral Philosophy & Applied Ethics“ (CompPhil²MMAE) invites applications for a doctoral position at the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the KIT for a period of three years. The project explores ethical questions surrounding state mass surveillance in liberal societies, focusing on (a) the impact of surveillance on the autonomy of surveilled individuals, (b) its impact on democracy, and (c) the role of technology companies involved in state surveillance.
